How To Handle Your Negative Thoughts

How to handle negative thoughts!

I can’t say I’m perfect, because I’m a human being, and I get negative thoughts all the time. It’s just something that happens, right?

What’s really important is that you learn how to manage negative thoughts, because ultimately your thoughts lead to what actually happens.

First, you think something which leads to you feeling a certain way. Then, that feeling causes an action, and from that action you get some sort of result. Would you agree?

So it all starts with our thoughts. I really feel bad for people that get in this constant state where they have negative thoughts, they’re depressed or they have anxiety. That’s part of the reason why I chose this topic to talk about. Hopefully this is able to help somebody.

I realize that sometimes we all get negative thoughts. There’s a couple things that you could do really quickly to get rid of negative thoughts. Usually, I noticed that by observing my own thoughts, as weird as that would be, that when I do have negative thoughts, it’s usually because I’m so much in my head and I’m way overthinking.

One thing that you can do very quickly to overcome negative thoughts is to just think about things that you want. So, instead of thinking about this stuff which is usually some sort of fake thing that you’re creating in your head that’s not actually real, start thinking of things that you want. I want this, and I want this, and I want this, and I want this. That will actually get you thinking about things that you want.

Another thing that is really good, is to just start counting your blessings. This is a great way to overcome negative thoughts. If you’re down in the dumps or you are not feeling too hot, just start counting your blessings.

Man, I’m so thankful that I had breakfast this morning. I’m so thankful that I actually have a bed to sleep in, because some people don’t have a bed. And you just go on this roll of counting all your blessings and you’ll start feeling different, after maybe 15 or 20 seconds of doing this.

Another way that you can start changing your negative thoughts is just by getting active. Getting into your body instead of getting so much in your head. And I actually learned that when I first went to a Tony Robbins seminar. Really, a big majority of the event is about how to control your emotions and your thoughts.

What I’ll do is play a game with myself where if I’m having negative thoughts or if I’m not feeling too good, I’ll put on some really high energy music and I’ll make it my goal to feel as good as I possibly can during that song. Once I feel good, I ask myself, “How can I feel even better now?”  Sometimes I even start dancing and singing, and that makes me feel even better.

So, there’s a few things that you can do really quickly. Again, that’s think of things that you want, count your blessings and start moving. Maybe dance, maybe sing. All these things are going to get you out of your head and into your body and you’re going to start thinking better.
