Is Hard Work and Hustle The Secret?

Is hard work and hustle really the secret?

I see it all the time, especially in this entrepreneurship niche. This whole thing about becoming an entrepreneur is this trend it seems that’s happening, online at least, and there’s all these social media hashtags, and there’s all these weird pictures of kids that are always posting about how hard they’re working, they’re hustling, and “grinding my face off,” and all this interesting stuff.

So, is hard work and hustle really the secret? I don’t really know.

I think that there definitely is a time and a place for hard work and hustle, but I think people that just do that all the time, I think they’re a little bit crazy, but I don’t know. I guess each person is different, but for me personally, I don’t think it’s really necessarily the secret, because I know a lot of people, friends of mine, that are working all the time. They’re hustling, they’re grinding non-stop, but they don’t really make much progress.

I think it’s because I think the real hard work is in the thinking. It’s in the creating of a vision and the creating of a plan. It’s getting around people that have already done it that are playing at the game of life at a higher level. I think that’s where the real magic is, the real secrets are versus just constantly hard working.

You could work your ass off, but if you’re working at the wrong thing, then you may never be able to become financially free. An example of this could be if you’re working at a traditional job that you can never break the time/money link.

If you’re working your butt off at a business that has a short lifespan, that’s not going to be around for a while, then you’re working your butt off for really nothing. So, I think that yes, in the beginning stages of getting a business up and running and during certain times you need to work your face off and work a lot. However, I don’t think that it’s necessarily the secret like a lot people say.

Some people say, “Oh yeah, just work hard and everything will get to you.”

No, that’s not true. There’s people that are janitors, there’s people that pick up the trash and that’s all they do, and they work really, really hard, harder than I may work, but they don’t really make as much progress. As a side note, no offense to people that do that. I’m not calling out people that are janitors are people that pick up trash. I’m just saying that you have to think about “If I’m working my face off, what is this ladder that I’m climbing up against?

What is it leaning against? What is the top look like? What is the end potential if I were to work my face off and really, really grind this whole time, what am I eventually gonna get to?”

A lot of the times you’re climbing up a ladder that there is no real destination that you actually want to be.

So, while yes, working your face off and grinding like crazy is important, I don’t think it’s really the secret.
